| Relax on the 24-passenger barge Mirabelle, cruising the romantic and legendary vineyards of the Bordeaux, the historic wine region of southwestern France. We'll travel through St. Emilion, Médoc and Sauternes visiting elegant chateaux and ancient villages, taking many opportunities to sample the wines and cuisine that made them famous. | ||||

| Itinerary | ||||
| Day 1 Morning departure from Paris via TGV train to Bordeaux; board the Mirabelle moored at Libourne. Day 2 Visit Saint Emilion, the market place, 12th-century Monolithic church, catacombs, Chapel of the Holy Trinity and Emilion’s hermitage. Cruise on the Dordogne River to the Gironde estuary, then to Blaye, known for its wine and hilltop citadel. Day 3 Cruise to Pauillac, then drive through the wine-producing area of Médoc and visit a local winery. Cruise along the river Garonne to Bordeaux. Day 4 Enjoy a walking tour of Bordeaux with its elegant façades, the Grand Théatre and the district of the Chartrons. Day 5 Visit Chateau Roquetaillade, built in 1306, then cruise through the Sauterne region and on to Meilhan. Day 6 Cruise to the village of Le Mas d’Agenais to see recently excavated Roman ruins and the Romanesque village church of Saint Vincent. Visit charming villages along the river Baise. Farewell dinner. Day 7 After breakfast, return to Paris midday by TGV train. |
