| Have you seen the new movie, "The Quiet American"? The
film captures the lushness, mysteriousness, and romance of this exotic country. If
you haven't been to Vietnam, perhaps now is the time to go. Foreign tourists are
welcome; the people are beautiful and friendly; the scenery is exquisite; the hotel
choices range from authentic and comfortable to luxurious; the food is delicious;
the culture is intriguing; and . . . it's not like home. Bob and I have been to Vietnam and we can arrange your trip -- to suit your calendar and your pocketbook, independently or with a group, and with extensions to Cambodia or other Southeast Asian countries. |

| Speaking of Graham Greene novels made into movies, how about "Our
Man in Havana?" Are you intrigued by this previously off-limits country only
90 miles off the tip of Florida that seems frozen in the 1950's? We're making arrangements
to visit in early November (using a fully licensed American company to provide us
with legal access). Our one-week trip has a theme of art, architecture and music.
We're gathering a group of interesting people to travel with us to this fascinating
country. Would you like to join us? |

| Our private tour through the Copper Canyon of northern Mexico filled
quickly. There was so much interest in this trip that I'm planning on arranging another.
If you'd like to be on the next list for this awe-inspiring journey, let me know. |

[September 2003 trip Waiting List] |
||
| Another tour that filled quickly with a long wait list. The National
Park Service limits the number of people on this river and therefore all tours book
up far in advance. If you'd like to take this trip, you must reserve space almost
a year in advance. I can arrange this for you. |

| I recently happened upon an exhibit of the most beautiful needlework
I've ever seen -- on clothing from the Guizhou Province of China (due north of Vietnam).
This area of China has only recently become easily accessible to foreigners and still
isn't on the typical itinerary. The clothing and silver work of the local tribes
of this mountainous region is just now being displayed in the U.S. The exhibit we
saw is housed in the Mingei International Museum in San Diego's Balboa Park and will
be shown through May. The clothing is decorated with appliqué and silk embroidery
of dazzling bright colors in incredible detail. The accompanying, delicate silver
headpieces and necklaces are intricate and complex. This exhibit is a must see for
anyone interested in textiles and handicrafts and Chinese art. A tour to Guizhou
is in the planning stages. Stay tuned. I intend to organize a day tour to revisit this exhibit and to coincide with a museum demonstration by artisans from the Miao tribe. If you're interested in joining me, please let me know. |

| How about a short, fun filled trip to the annual Blues Festival
in Portland, Oregon, over an extended 4th of July weekend? We're planning a small
group trip to fly to Portland on Wednesday, July 2; stay at a hotel overlooking the
fireworks on the Willamette River; hear incredible blues music; take a tour along
the Columbia River (with views that rival those of the Rhine River in Germany); and
visit local wineries in the idyllic rural countryside. This will be a fun, long weekend
trip to a very special and beautiful city. (You’ll see why Portland is consistently
declared as one of the best places to live in the U.S.) |

| Not only are great air fares to Europe available now, the land
travel companies are offering exceptional specials also. For instance, you can go
on an escorted five-day tour of IRELAND for as low as $298 per person, double occupancy.
A package including a small car, B&B accommodations with private bath and daily
breakfast, can be yours for as low as $43 a person per day. Spring is an ideal time
to be in Ireland -- it's less crowded; it's beautiful and the people are just as
friendly as ever. |
||
| Our barge trips in France and the Douro River cruise in Portugal
were some of our very best vacations. Lower prices are available during the “shoulder
seasons” of April/May and October/November. Tulip cruises through Holland and Belgium
are as low as $1,990 per person; a nine day cruise in the South of France on the
Rhone Princess, starts at $2,148 per person; and the Douro River cruise is as low
as $1,498. |
||
| An off-the-beaten path destination -- always intriguing. A tour
is in the planning stages, with a concentration on Mayan ruins, a jungle cruise,
and stops at villages with unique crafts. Interested? Please ask for more details. |
