Join garden and art experts for an exploration of the unique public and private gardens of the Island of O`ahu. Additional tours to cultural, art and architectural sites, both ancient and modern, will bring into focus the importance of Hawaii's unique botanical heritage to its history, art and cultural development. |

| Itinerary | |
Day 1 - Depart Los Angeles in the morning; arrive in Honolulu early afternoon. Afternoon free. Dinner this evening featuring Island / Asian cuisine at Indigo Restaurant. Day 2 - Morning visit to Lyon Arboretum followed by a picnic lunch at Queen Lili`uokalani's favorite picnic garden. Afternoon rain forest walk with naturalist featuring endangered Hawaiian plants. Day 3 - Morning introduction to life of the Hawaiian monarchy with a visit to Queen Emma's Summer Palace. No-host lunch at The Willows restaurant. Afternoon tour focusing on the world-famous tropical tree collection at Foster Botanical Garden. Day 4 - Morning ecotour to seldom-visited archeological sites in the Ko`olau Poko mountains. Remainder of afternoon free to relax or take optional tours. Day 5 - Morning visit to two exciting private gardens plus an introduction to lei-making and garden tour at Senator Fong's Plantation. Catered picnic lunch at the beautiful Lanikai Beach, with time for sunning and splashing. Late afternoon free. Day 6 - Art and history blend with tours of the Bishop Museum and the Contemporary Museum of Art (and its wonderful garden!). No-host lunch at the museum's Garden Cafe. Remainder of day free to relax or take optional tours. Day 7 - Morning visit to a secluded private garden followed by tours of historic Iolani Palace and Mission Houses Museum. No-host lunch at the Wai`oli Tea Room. Afternoon visit to Kawamoto Orchid Nursery with opportunity to purchase special plants. Late afternoon free. Day 8 - Travel through pineapple and coffee fields to visit Hawaii's Plantation Village and the Wahi`awa Botanical Garden, followed by a little fun at the Dole Pineapple Maze. We'll have lunch and cruise the North Shore before returning for this evening's Farewell Luau. Day 9 -Morning free for last-minute shopping. Afternoon departure for home. |
